Description

As China’s first Sino-US research university and the third degree-granting campus of the NYU Global Network, NYU Shanghai is dedicated to cultivating globally-minded graduates. Three of the four learning outcomes for business major students emphasize the “Global” perspective in an integrated world and gain proficiency and a deeper understanding of real business.

In this lightning talk, presented at 2025 Joint Conference and Regional Meetings of the ABLD-APBSLG-CLADEA-EBSLG, I will share my experience as a business librarian at NYU Shanghai, where the intersection of global vision and local action is at the heart of our library services. Through adapting NYU Libraries’ multilingual materials, customizing content for diverse cultural contexts, and integrating local resources to enrich business education, I will discuss how to bridge them with local teaching and learning needs.

By reflecting on the challenges and opportunities of working in this "glocal" context, this talk will highlight how business librarians can effectively support both global business higher education and local academic communities. And how these experiences help business librarians grow, collaborate, and shape their career paths in an evolving business higher education landscape.
