AN GAODHAL.
faidh mé an spóirt,
'S beidh airgiod go fairsing ann mo phó-
caidhe:
Gur milse liom do fhóg 'ná siúicre beach
air bórd,
'S go m' aite liom ann aice leat ná
ceol sighe ;
What I do to you propose you may
take as a joke,
'San achrann ní magadh leat bhím óig-
mnaoi:
if I had you in my bower you'd be out
of harm’s power,
'S bheidheadh m' aigne-se ceangailte ann
do mhór-chroidhe.
Is buadhartha tá mo chroidhe le taithniomh
mór dod' ghnaoi,
Agus adbhuim ó m' aigne gur leon mé;
When go to bed at night no comfort
can I find,
But lying on my side in sore grief :
By this and that indeed and the Bible
we do read,
Ní sgarfainn leat air airgiod no air
ór bhuidhe;
My treasure wealth and store you,ll be
for evermore,
Tair a bhaile liom 's béarfad acfainn
duit, a stóirín.
Your civil, silver tongue I think is mo-
ving on,
Your chattering or flattering wont
coax me;
Da n-geillinn-si dod' shlighe 's cam do
bheith ad chroidhe;
Nar bh'é an peacadh dhuit mé mhealladh
la do chuid gnódhthuidhe:
Cant you come and try, my kindness
you shall find :
'S thabharfainn m' acfainn duit go rabh-
airneach le mór chroidhe:
I'Il buy you decent clothes, silk and
satin shoes,
'S annsa n-Gaillimh do ghlacach sinn ar
lóistín.
My mind would give consent to go
with you, I think,
Acht le eagla gur cleasa clis do gnódh-
thuidhe,
If I thought you were true do rach-
fainn leat a nún,
Thair fhairge, gan eachraibh gan cóistidhe;
Ní'l agam le rádh acht go mbadh buan do
bheith na mná,
'S gur taithniomhach liom gasaradh 'ca ag
ól dighe,
To you I give my oath (and what
could I do more)
Ní sgarfainn leat go g-casfadh sruith a
g-clodh dighe —
Críoch.

Gach masla 'gus imdhearga go bh-feud-
fann-se léigh dhuit,
Do thug siad dúinn iad le brigh agus
éifeacht,
Le sgríbhin, le óráide, le cómhrádh agus
le miona éithigh,
Chum go bh-fághaidís an bh-fearann gur
mian leo féinig.

Is mógh cinneál, móráil agus aithléigh-
theudach,
Do tharruing sé treas an bhíobla glé-reil
Chuir sé duine os a gcionn a pioca léigh-
eann as,
Mar bhí Sícears, Smhadlars, Prodas-
túin agus Presbitéreans.
Dubhairt Naomh Neághan linn anns na
Rebhelésions,
An cúigmheadh bliadhain fhichid go m-beid-
eadh sé lé chéile ;
Iarruim air Dhia, anns an imirt is géire,

Mar siúd do chuir Raibhtrighe síos ann
Éirinn,
É féin agus an sgeach, a g-ceart féin
le na chéile. —

Those subssribing for the GAEL should write
their names and addresses plainly. We have a
contract with the government to deliver it through-
out the world. There are some complaints of its
nondelivery : hence this caution. We also hope
that those to whom it is not regularly delivered
will send us a postal to that effect, so that we
may be able to report to the proper authorities
