The following are a few examples
of participles used as adjectives, which
scarcely require an explanation:
doras fosgailte, an opened door.
dorn dúnta (lámh iadhta), a shut fist.
fuinneog roinnte, a divided window.
iasg sáilte, salted fish, oileán sgrios¬
ta, a ravaged island; teine lasta, a
lighted fire.
The following examples are very simple, and
show the genitive case of a few words :
bainne bó, cow's milk; corn uisge, a
cup of water; fód móna, a sod of
turf; gloine bainne, a glass of milk;
gort cabáiste, afield of cabbage; poll
móna, a bog hole; peann iarain, an i¬
ron pen; trócaire Dé, mercy of God.
