Our friend John Kyne looks blooming after his
tour through the Old Country where he was feted
like a prince.
Counsellor John C. McGuire is happy since he
contributed in no small degree to the election of
his friend Mayor Chapin last month
The Hon. Judge Rooney is an enthusiastic Pro¬
tectionist. He has organized the Kings County
Protective League, from which he expects large re¬
sults when the time comes.
Irish-Americans, regardless of political affiliation
will be pleased to learn that President Harrison
has appointed the genial and patriotic Editor of the
TABLET, Gen Kerwin, to the important and luc¬
rative position of Collector of Internal Revenue for
the New York District.
We see by a late issue of the Dublin Freeman's
Journal that at a recent meeting of the Council
of the Society for the Preservation of the Irish
Language, the secretary was instructed to com¬
municate with the authorities of the Catholic
University at Washington with a view to impress
upon them the desirability of establishing a Celt¬
ic chair in that University.
SEANMHÓIR AIR LÁ 'N BHREITHEAMH.¬
NAIS, le P. J. Creichín. Leantadh.
Fiafruigheann réasún, "Cia h-é Dia?
Cia nídh nádúir? Cia as a d-tainic
duine? Cia bh-fuil flaitheas? Go tuige a
bhfuil ifrionn an? & cia h-é ar ndeireadh
Ar cruthuighead an domhan a b-pléisiúr,
& an sin a sgrios amach a bh-feirg. Aon
dol thimchioll amhain do'n domhan agus
é thré theine, bheidheadh sé mar splanc.
Mar luinge dótha air fairge, rachfaidh
go iachtar an uisge, imtheochaidh an domh¬
an a neimh-nidh Ní bheidh greim de le fágh¬
ail. An a righeacht farsaing ní bheidheadh
tadaidh ach dorchadas agus fallamhain,
na reulta múchta ; gan nidh le faghail a
dhearbhóchadh go rabh cruthadh ariamh ann.
O, nach fíor iad na focla, "Amuideachd
air amuideachd, is amuideachd nidh air
bith ach Dia a ghrádhúghadh."
O, a Dhia, nach uathbhásach an t-amharc
no an cuimhne é seo? An aisling a bhí
ansa méid a chuaidh thart! Cia 's brígh
do'n am atá le theacht? O ceisteanna
dithchéille. Dia a chuir air bun an stáid
seo air gach nidh d'ar chruthuigh sé. Ni
thig linn an stáid seo athrughadh, thoradh
mar saoilfeamuid Dia féin a mharbhadh.
Ach cuimhnigh gur b'í an dubháilce a bhidh¬
eas trioblóideach annsa n-am sin; béidh
subháilce air nós sábhálta. Ansa moi¬
meint uabhásach seo, béidh subháilce smig¬
eadh go sásta air aisteacht Chríosd. Tá
an t-subháilce do-mharbhtha; mar bheith gath
gréine air faithchetathe neamh-loiteach a-
measg cith marbhtha. Ameasg méid seo,
seasfaidh an t-anam, mar gheall air an
t-subháilce, do-mharbhtha, na sheod gheall,
glégeal, a lár cumhacht ifrinn & sgrios
agus reubadh an domhain.
A n-diaigh an domhain a bheith dóthtadh
& gach nidh sgriosta dhé, tiocfaidh Micheál
Árdeangal a séideadh ann gall trumpa,
glaodhach air an g-cinneadh daonda ann
a m-breitheamhnais. Ordóchaidh sé sluai¬
ghte ifrinn a theacht; dearfaidh mar a g-
ceudna le muintir na flaithis a theacht
no go bh-feicfidh siad críoch déighionach an

Le bheith ar leanamhaint.
