Ná Sliabh a' Dolláin gidh go m-budh mhór é,
'S ná Sliabh Siogháin bocht, lán brónach.
Do bhí máthair a' diabhail grána ann
'S páipéar bán aice d'á bhreacadh,
A n-dúbhairt 's a n-deárnas ariabh ó bhídheas mo leanbh
Do bhí sé sgríobhtha síos air chlár m' eudain go tapa.
D' imthigheas suas go dorus na bh-flaithis,
Do bhí an doirseóir ann, Naomh Peadar;
D' fhiafruigh sé dhíom ca m-bidhim air a d-talamh,
Nó an mé an t-anam a bhí ann Seághan de Barra.
Tháinic Mac Dé, ceud moladh go deo leis,
Do chuir sé coiste an dáreug go geur air m' anam,
Do fuair siad daor mé de réir mo bheartaibh,
Agus dúbhairt sé gur i n-ifrionn shíos a bhí mo leaba.
Thainic máthair Dé, ceud moladh go deo léithe,
D'uaillig sí 's d' eug sí 's ghread sí a bosa,
Agus d' iar sí air a mac a tabhairt dith mar shaibhreas,
A' t-anam a bhí ann Seághan de Barra
"A mháthair a' lae ghil, is cruaidh an nidh sin,
A bheith tabhairt na flaitheas don té nár thoil é."
"Má seadh cuir air a d-talamh é a teagasg na n-daoine
Nó cuir faoi 'n bh-fearthainn é ó mhaidin go f'oidhche."

Probably, no other journal published has a more
enlightened constituency than The Gael.
To keep a head, this issue is dated April; look
to the numbers 1, 2 3, etc. for the consecutive order
England will never give Ireland Home Rule until
the Irish shall make it plain to her that she shall
lose more than she will gain by refusing it. Hence,
the Irish, if true to their nationality, and not blatant
fools, or hypocrites, will strike English interest on
the head whenever and wherever they see it. The
Orange cry of old was, “Wherever you see a Crop¬
pie's head strike it.” The lrish in Australia, Cana¬
da, and the United States can strike English inter¬
ests an effective blow, and if they do so the English
will let Ireland go if the Parnellites and the McCar¬
thyites were at the bottom of the sea.
The Tory-Mugwump element has had influence
enough to prevent us from having a navy so as to
keep us under a cow to England. What about the
horrid Italians, Eh ?
