the innate beauty of the original can never be re¬
produced.
Hence, we have no hesitation in declaring that
this Lecture, in the manner in which it has been
presented, is worth to the patriotic Irishman to
leave as an herloom to his family the cost of The
Gael from its foundation.

In a recent issue of the Irish Re¬
public we are told that a convention
of prominent Irish-Americans is to be
held in the near future to consider
Irish affairs. Amongst the names
mentioned is that of the “Hon. Thos.
A E Weadock of Mich. If that be the
party who introduced a bill in Con¬
gress, not long ago, whose object was
the suppression of any publication
which adversely criticised any foreign
nation, or advised resistance to its
rule, he is not fit to sit in Council
with Irishmen. The New York Sun
handled Weadock and his bill without
gloves at the time. Had it become a
law the Irish Republic would not be
permitted to circulate through the
United States mails to-day.
