AN GAODHAL.
Gaelic League. A composition how¬
ever excellent its language may be
thrown aside if it violate the foregoing
conditions, or any of them.
Preserve this copy of the Gaodhal
so that when you are preparing your
competitive pieces whether prose, poe¬
try or translation, you can refer to it
and thus be able to confine yourselves
to just the number of words requir¬
ed in a composition, or the number of
verses in a piece of poetry.
SPELLING — At the age of about 25,
we never had occasion to apply to a
dictionary — we could not now trust
ourselves, sometimes, without it. The
Oireachtas will require strict adherence
to some standard dictionary
We hope the Gaels of Éire Mhór
will prepare themselves and wrest, at
least, some of the good things going at
the Oireachtas from our friends in Éi¬
re Bheag, or, Sean Éire.
Another matter to which we would
call the attention of Gaels: — Common
Gaelic reading matter is not within
the reach of many of the children who
graduate at home, why not send the
Gael to their Teachers? It prints the
class of Irish that amuse, entertain
and instruct Get your non-Irish rea¬
ding neighbors to help the cause by
filling this gap — Ed]
